Public Opinion Shifts in Favor of NIL Compensation
A newly released national poll by the Knight Commission and Elon University (conducted in July 2025) shows growing public support for direct payments to college athletes:
53% favor schools directly compensating athletes for their name, image, and likeness (NIL)
58% support NIL payments from companies
46% back “pay-for-play” compensation from schools, while 32% oppose it
45% say athletes deserve $25,000 or more annually, with 11% supporting unlimited payments
81% value preserving academic integrity, and 39% believe more needs to be done for women’s sports equity

University of Tennessee Partners with Adidas for Unprecedented NIL Program
The University of Tennessee announced a new apparel partnership with Adidas that includes an “unprecedented NIL program” for all 20 varsity sports. Launching in the 2025–26 athletic year, athletes will join the Adidas NIL Ambassador Network, gaining exposure and revenue opportunities far beyond traditional team gear deals.

Kentucky Athletics Launches “BBN United” Fan Engagement Platform
